 Gibson Flying V 1968 Ebony Er hangt een soort mystieke aura rond de Gibson Flying V. Het is een gitaar die flink op zijn tijd vooruit was toen hij geïntroduceerd werd in 1958, en zijn intense magnetische aantrekkingskracht, krachtige geluid, en ongebruikelijke maar toch vertrouwde vorm hebben hem gemaakt tot één van de makkelijkst herkenbare gitaren ter wereld. De legendarische Gibson President Ted McCarty zocht een futuristisch aspect om toe te voegen aan het bedrijfsimago toen hij de Flying V introduceerde, en dat lukte! En terwijl enkele grootste gitaristen aller tijden - zoals Lonnie Mack en Albert King - de Flying V direct omarmden, wachtte de rest van de wereld niet tot de heruitgave in 1967 om bij aan te sluiten. Gitaargoden als Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, Michael Schenker en Lenny Kravitz zijn allemaal bezweken aan de fascinerende verleiding van de Flying V.
