De EMU Shortboard 49 is een 49-toetsen USB/MIDI instrument, gemaakt voor podium of studio. Het instrument heeft een nieuwe EMU synthesizer chip met een 16-delige multitimbrale mogelijkheid, 128-stemmige polyfonie, een 32-bit reverb en chorus effecten en is uitgerust met een 64MB grote soundset inclusief een General Midi bank en een complete serie klassieke keyboardgeluiden zoals vleugels, elektrische piano's, B3's, Clavinets en Solina-Moog-OB-Prophet-Juno-TB synthesizers.
