 Olympus LS-14 Nu is het nog gemakkelijker om kwalitatief uitstekende geluidsopnamen te maken. De LS-14 lineaire PCM-recorder van Olympus valt niet alleen op door zijn professionele functies en mogelijkheden – waaronder een tuner, metronoom en overdubopties – maar ook door een zeer eenvoudige bediening. Met de handige menuknop kies je tussen de tuner, de handmatige programma's en de innovatieve Smart-modus. Deze laatste zorgt voor een intelligente geluidsanalyse binnen een bepaalde interval en kiest vervolgens de optimale instellingen zodat je zeker bent van een professioneel resultaat. Ook de twee uitstekende directionele microfoons dragen bij aan een geweldige opnamekwaliteit. De LS-14 is voorzien van een Tresmic-systeem dat zijn waarde bewijst bij de opname van natuurlijke basgeluiden. Verder klinken de opnamen net zo puur als het oorspronkelijke geluid: beide modellen registreren feilloos geluid tot een geluidsdruk van 130 dBspl. Zet 'm aan, draai aan de knop en begin met opnemen. Met de fraaie Olympus LS-14 is het wel heel gemakkelijk om opnamen te maken van een professionele kwaliteit. Met de keuzeknop kun je kiezen tussen de tuner en drie opnamestanden – Quick, Manual en Smart. In de Quick-modus hoef je dankzij AGC (Automatic Gain Control) geen volumeaanpassingen te maken en dat is ideaal wanneer je snel iets wilt opnemen dat je niet mag vergeten. In de Manual-modus heb je juist de volledige controle over alle niveaus, zelfs tijdens het opnemen. En de handige Smart-modus kiest automatisch de juiste niveaus voor een professioneel resultaat. Deze modus meet het maximale volume binnen een bepaalde interval en optimaliseert het opnameniveau. Vervolgens wordt na deze interval automatisch met opnemen begonnen. Tot slot beschikt de LS-14 over een gebruiksvriendelijke interface met intuïtieve symbolen die goed te zien zijn op het verlichte display van 4,45 cm. Superieur geluid is wat je verwacht van Olympus, en de LS-14 stelt zeker niet teleur met opnamen in de professionele, niet-gecomprimeerde 96-kHz/24-bit lineaire PCM-structuur die vele malen beter is dan de 44,1-kHz/16-bit kwaliteit van cd's. Ook kan er worden opgenomen in het populaire mp3-formaat. De LS-14 is voorzien van twee hoogwaardige directionele microfoons met een frequentierespons van 60-20.000 Hz, en bovendien met een Tresmic-systeem dat nog een derde, centraal geplaatste microfoon bevat. Het resultaat is een zeer breed frequentiebereik tot maar liefst 20 Hz zodat ook bastonen heel getrouw worden vastgelegd. Dit model ondersteunt geluidsopnamen tot een geluidsdruk van 130 dBspl zodat zelfs harde geluiden feilloos en zonder vervorming worden geregistreerd. Muzikale meester De LS-14 met chromatische tuner is bij uitstek geschikt voor muzikanten. Zij kunnen er zelfs voor kiezen om de golfvormen weer te geven op het ingebouwde display. Zo kan makkelijk worden bekeken of er binnen een bepaalde tijdspanne sprake is van een constante toonhoogte. Een handig hulpmiddel is ook de metronoom die de maat aangeeft met behulp een knipperende led. De overdubfunctie maakt het mogelijk om tijdens het luisteren over een bestand of bepaald fragment heen op te nemen, en het resultaat op te slaan als nieuw bestand. Tot slot kunnen de sporen worden gesplitst en aangepast om precies het resultaat te krijgen wat je wilt. Bij de LS-14 kun je zelfs direct op de recorder wijzigingen aanbrengen. De Olympus LS-14 heeft een ingebouwd geheugen van 4 GB. Daarnaast is hij voorzien van een geheugenslot voor SD/SDHC-kaarten (van max. 32 GB). Verder kan hij met de statiefaansluiting aan de achterzijde worden bevestigd op een statief of standaard, zoals de CL2 die met de LS-14 wordt meegeleverd.
