Gibson Les Paul 50s Tribute… Gibson USA is celebrating 2013 as the Year of Les Paul, and is blowing it up big with a new series of decade-dedicated Tribute Les Pauls, each of which honors the artistry and innovation of inventor and guitarist Les Paul by capturing the essence of a great Les Paul guitar from one of four different eras. All embody the full magic of this legendary guitar design, but are stripped down for improved value and no-nonsense performance. The Les Paul ’50s Tribute nails the look, feel, and tone of the set-neck, single-cutaway solidbody that started it all—the original Les Paul Model of the early to mid 1950s. Like the first Les Paul guitars, the Les Paul ’50s Tribute carries a pair of screaming P-90 pickups, the fat Gibson single-coil that has been beloved for more than six decades, along with the comfortably rounded neck profile characteristic of that decade. A step up to Gibson’s most acclaimed hardware set improves playability and offers precise tuning and intonation. And, like all Les Paul and SG 2013 Tribute Series guitars, the Les Paul ’50s Tribute is available upgraded with Min-ETune™ automated “robot” tuners for a nominal upcharge. The Les Paul ’50s Tribute looks great in your choice of Vintage Sunburst, Wine Red, Ebony Black, or Goldtop finish, all in Vintage Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Just like the greatest Les Paul Standards ever made, the Les Paul ’50s Tribute starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. When paired, these woods offer a tonal depth and complexity unmatched by any single-wood construction, with warmth and richness from the mahogany, and superb clarity and “snap” from the maple. The mahogany back is strategically weight relieved to both lighten your load and improve resonance. A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson’s time-tested tradition, and carved to a comfortably rounded ‘50s profile that measures .818” at the 1st fret and .963” at the 12th. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ’board remain unbound, and there’s no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian™ subtly complements the black top-hat knobs with silver inserts, while enhancing resonance and sustain. The traditional back-angled headstock is silkscreened with a gold Gibson logo and Les Paul Model. The Les Paul ’50s Tribute takes its firepower from a pair of P-90 pickups, some of the most revered tone machines in Gibson history. The P-90s currently made by Gibson USA adhere strictly to the vintage formula, which includes genuine Alnico V bar magnets and coils wound with 42-AWG enamel-coated wire for all the growl, snarl, and articulation that has made the originals legendary. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations. To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, with a set of genuine Grover™ kidney button tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the Les Paul ’50s Tribute presents the perfect celebration of Les Paul’s genius and achievement, wrapping it into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of the first generation of Les Pauls to the hands of players of today. Each guitar includes a black Gibson premium gigbag, owner’s manual, and truss-rod wrench.

Both are made in the image of the hallowed PAF humbucker of the late 1950s with Alnico II magnets in the neck position for plenty of warmth and clarity, and in the bridge position, the ’57 Classic Plus™ which features slightly over-wound coils for juicy crunch and wailing lead tones. Both pickups are wax potted, too, to avoid microphonic squeal at high volume levels. Both pickups feature push-pull tone controls which provide coil splitting for authentic single-coil tones. The innovative pairing of a Tune-o-Matic™ bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality Grover™ locking tuners ensures smooth, accurate tuning. Upgrade to the Les Paul Signature “T” Gold Series for the custom touch of gold-plated hardware, or select automated Min-ETuneTM “robot” tuners as a factory option on the standard edition. Gibson Les Paul Traditional… As part of the 2013 Year of Les Paul celebrations, Gibson USA has revamped the popular Les Paul Traditional, giving some fresh twists to its timeless blend of stellar tones, great looks, and unrivaled playability. The New Les Paul Traditional wraps several crucial features into a classic Les Paul that always just seemed right, echoing the specs of guitars that rocked the world through the 1980s and ’90s. The New Les Paul Traditional’s tonewood combination retains the great sound of the original Les Paul Standard, with an unchambered back for a thick, meaty tone and superb sustain. Its rounded late-’50s neck shape reflects one of the most popular profiles ever used on a Les Paul. Two PAF-style humbucking pickups with Orange Drop tone capacitors give no end of power and finesse. All this, and the new Les Paul Traditional looks outrageous with its Grade-AA figured maple top beneath a new Honey Burst, Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Caramel Burst, Light Burst, or Chicago Blue finish, all in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. The New Les Paul Traditional is built on a foundation of the same traditional tonewood combination that helped to make the Les Paul Standard legendary when it first arrived six decades ago. A carved solid Grade-AA figured maple top lends bite and articulation to the sound while looking great in the process, and a solid, mahogany back without weight relief contributes superb warmth and depth. A quarter-sawn, Grade-A mahogany neck is glued in and carved in a comfortably rounded late-’50s profile that measures .900” at the 1st fret and 1.00” at the 12th, and topped with a bound Grade-A rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. Traditional touches include cream body and fingerboard binding, pickguard, and pickup rings, along with gold Speed Knobs with dial pointers. Classic Gibson construction ensures optimum playability, too, along with traditional specs like a 24 ¾” scale length, a 1 11/16” width across the PLEK-cut Corian™ nut, and a 12-inch fingerboard radius for smooth, easy bending. Pure vintage-voiced tone with a contemporary edge is assured by a pair of Gibson’s ’57 Classic™ pickups with traditional chromed covers. Both are made in the image of the hallowed PAF humbucker of the late 1950s with Alnico II magnets, a traditional wind in the neck position for plenty of warmth and clarity, and slightly over-wound coils in the ’57 Classic Plus™ in the bridge position for juicy crunch and wailing lead tones. Both pickups are wax potted, too, to avoid microphonic squeal at high volume levels, and routed through Orange Drop tone capacitors to their individual tone controls for a smooth, rich high-end roll off. The innovative pairing of a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensures solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality TonePros™ vintage-style ensures smooth, accurate tuning. Each guitar includes a Gibson hardshell case covered in black snakeskin-textured vinyl, an owner’s manual, and truss-rod wrench.

Gibson Les Paul Studio 2013… The Les Paul Studio has been a popular choice of hard-working guitarists everywhere ever since its introduction in 1983. Now, Gibson USA brings increased sonic versatility and performance upgrades to a new Les Paul Studio as part of its big 2013 Year of Les Paul celebrations. The 2013 Les Paul Studio blends timeless tonewoods and components with improved comfort, powerful humbucking pickups with built-in coil-splitting switching for the added versatility of single-coil tones, and the classic looks that define it as a genuine Gibson Les Paul. To ram it all full speed into the 21st century, the 2013 Les Paul Studio is now also available with optional Min-ETune™ automated “robot” tuning, which can be added to your guitar with no internal modification for a nominal upcharge. All this, and the 2013 Les Paul Studio looks stunning in your choice of Ebony, Alpine White, Wine Red, or Vintage Sunburst finish, all in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, or Goldtop with dark back and neck. A left-handed version is also available, and for an added touch of class, there’s a 2013 Les Paul Studio Gold Series, with gold-plated hardware and pickup covers, and a gloss top finish with satin back and neck. The 2013 Les Paul Studio is tone-assured right from the start, thanks to a foundation of the traditional tonewoods that helped to make the Les Paul Standard legendary when it first arrived six decades ago. A carved solid maple top lends bite and articulation to the sound, while a select mahogany back—treated with Gibson’s new modern weight relief pattern to increase playing comfort and enhance resonance—contributes superb warmth and depth. A solid, quarter-sawn mahogany neck is glued in and carved in the fast 60s SlimTaper™ profile, and topped with a rich brown Granadillo fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down Studio ethos, the body and fingerboard are left unbound, but the 2013 retains elegant touches in its pickguard, hot-stamped truss-rod cover, and black or gold speed knobs, depending on finish. Classic Gibson construction ensures optimum playability, too, along with traditional specs like a 24 ¾” scale length, a 1 11/16” width across the PLEK-cut Corian™ nut, and a 12-inch fingerboard radius for smooth, easy bending. A pair of Gibson USA’s Modern Classics™ humbucking pickups prime the 2013 Les Paul Studio for unparalleled tonal versatility. Both are made in the image of the legendary PAF humbucker, with Alnico magnets and 42-AWG wire, but adapted for the demands of contemporary players. A 490R in the neck position offers vintage warmth and throaty blues tones, while a hotter 498T in the bridge belts out all the scorch, sizzle and sustain you require. Furthermore, both are wired for coil splitting, with individual push-pull tone-control switching to tap authentic single-coil tones, which are even wired for hum cancelling in the middle position. The innovative pairing of a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and precise intonation, while a set of high-quality TonePros™ vintage-style tuners—upgradable to the automated Min-ETune System for a nominal charge—ensure smooth, accurate tuning. Go for gold with the 2013 Les Paul Studio Gold Series, and get the same features with classy gold-plated hardware. Each guitar includes a black Gibson hardshell case, owner’s manual, and truss-rod wrench.

Gibson Les Paul Gary Moore… From his scorching playing with Skid Row and Thin Lizzy to his incendiary solo work, Gary Moore produced some of the most powerful guitar performances known to stage and studio from the mid ’70s right up until his untimely death in 2011. Throughout his career, Moore virtually defined high-octane blues-rock, coining a signature tone that thousands have sought to emulate. Across three decades of playing, his weapon of choice remained the mighty Les Paul, one of which was the legendary ’59 Burst originally owned by Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green. Now Gibson USA honors this certified guitar legend with the Gary Moore Les Paul Standard, a first-class Les Paul decked out to this demanding artist’s preferred specifications. Many details are reminiscent of the famed “Peter Green Les Paul,” formerly played by Gary Moore and now owned by collector Melvyn Franks. From its highly flamed maple top with Lemonburst finish, to its traditional Les Paul Model headstock with signature truss-rod cover, to its mismatched amber and gold top-hat knobs, the Gary Moore Les Paul Standard offers uncompromising looks. Plug in and fire up its BurstBucker Pro humbucking pickups via Orange Drop tone caps, all anchored with a quality TonePros™ hardware, and it rips it up with a tone fit to carry the name, Gary Moore. The Gary Moore Les Paul Standard is rooted in Les Paul tradition, with a top carved from figured Grade-AA maple, and a back crafted from Grade-A mahogany. To better show of the luscious nitrocellulose Lemonburst finish, the body carries no binding or pickguard. It is strategically weight-relieved to render this a superbly comfortable guitar. The neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade-A mahogany and carved to a rounded ’50s profile that measures 0.818” at the 1st fret and 0.963” at the 12th. It is topped with an unbound Granadillo fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional acrylic trapezoid inlays. The two BurstBucker Pro pickups on the Gary Moore Les Paul Standard blend the best of Gibson’s hallowed PAF humbuckers with the versatility required by today’s high-gain rockers. These pickups are made with Alnico V magnets and wound with 42 AWG wire—with extra turns in the bridge pickup’s coils for a hotter lead sound—but are wax potted to withstand high volume levels without microphonic squeal. The neck pickup is reversed in its mounting, in recognition of a similar modification to Peter Green’s Les Paul. The guitar carries the traditional control layout, with Orange Drop tone capacitors, and mismatched amber and gold top hat knobs on the neck and bridge pickup controls respectively. A TonePros™ Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece with locking mounting hardware partner with TonePros™ Kluson green-key tuners to comprise a first-class hardware set. Wrap it up in a vintage-brown Gibson hardshell case with Gary Moore signature, owner’s manual, adjustment literature, and it’s a fitting tribute to the man himself.
