Deze werden gemaakt van kokosnoten en een rasterwerk van zaden die met draad opgebonden werden. LP heeft nu de Traditionele Cabasa gemaakt om deze zwakke instrumenten te vervangen. Deze moderne versie is gemaakt van sterk kunststof voor de buitenkant, de handgreep en de kralen, en sterke nylon vezels voor de besnaring van het instrument. De LP Traditionele Cabasa geeft een helder en levendig geluid met een grotere dynamische range en duurzaamheid dan zijn voorganger, maar met dezelfde vorm en speelgevoel.
